I think the same way as you. My mom is very protective of all of us and sometimes it can get annoying. My brother is in highschool and she won’t let him watch an R rated movie, she always hid it in the cubboard and always got mad at me if he was watching it with me. Same goes for video games. If its rated T he’s not allowed to rent it. (shooting, killng games etc) For me she used to be the same but i’ve gotten older and shes not the same anymore. But what does drive me absolutely nuts is she’s always constantly telling me to go to bed, i’m 18 for god’s sake and i have insomnia, i can’t sleep and she gets mad at me because i can’t sleep and i’m always up until 6 am. But as my view on violence and things like that i think they should be exposed to it you can’t keep them sheltered their entire lives. They will grow up eventually. For drugs as a parent i wouldn’t want to know my teen is doing it but being a teen i think its fine to experiment with it but at the same time i have always found with my friends that its hard to not spiral down a bad circle

ok… so i think some sheltering is necessary.. like.. a 5 year old shouldnt know everything about sex.. and stuff like that.. but no.. i think if parents keep their child in a ‘bubble’ then when they turn 18 and get out on their own.. they will discover everything on their own and not know how to deal with it. i think if parents talk to their kids about sex, drugs, and anything else.. and just talk about it. and also if you talk to your kids about stuff.. it will make them more open with you, and thats always good.

No, I don’t think they should be. I find it absolutely ridiculous to see questions on this website “MY FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD HAD A PORN MAGAZINE, HOW SHOULD I PUNISH HIM?” “MY 14-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER WATCHED AN R RATED MOVIE, HOW SHOULD I PUNISH HER?”

Honestly, it’s very sad. An R rated movie is not going till kill your child. Neither is a porn magazine. These people are sheltering natural human development.

they should be sheltered to a certain extent and learn things from their parents, and not movies.
