They are 14 and soon to be 16. We do provide everything they need and if we have a little extra, we are more than happy to share it with them. I don't believe there should be a "set" or "right" amount because every family's financial situation is different. And allowances aren't a given right, nor are they a necessity. I think kids definitely should learn the value of hard work to earn their spending money. Bernard
