I heard that kids/teens need 9-12 hours of sleep at night for their brain to function correctly the next day. What does the brain need to do? What is the importance of this? I know that I rarely don’t get that much sleep at night, I’m in Junior High, and I seem to be able to function the next day. Just wondering…

Thanks!
I meant that I rarely get that much sleep, not that I rarely ‘dont’ get that much sleep…

During sleep is when your body repairs itself from the damage you do to it every day, and it’s also when you grow. If you don’t get enough sleep, you get run down fast, and you can’t reach your full potential in any area of life.

An average teenager needs about 8.5-9.25 hours of sleep per day. As long as you are feeling alert during the day and not drowsy, you don’t really have to worry about it. Some people are long sleepers and some people are short sleepers, so there is no real standard.
